Believe it or not, I am not actually posting this film because of the handsome staring man. Strangely enough it’s actually the backdrop and the amazing hotel featured towards the end of the film that excites me more than the lead male… sorry Jude! The majority of the new Dior Homme Sport advert is filmed on the stunning French Riviera with Jude driving along the stunning coastal roads, ending with a sequence at my fetish venue, the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc with its majestic cream facade and beautiful shoreline. If this advert doesn’t make you want to get married on the French Riviera or at least visit, I don’t know what will! P.s. aren’t the car and boat amazing!

After having been recommended the Mas Provencal in Eze by a foodie client in Monaco, visiting it, meeting the owner and then booking it for a rehearsal dinner for 30 people wedding in April (the Bride said is was the best restaurant she had ever been to), I thought that it was about time to try the restaurant’s famous cuisine. Mr Heinz, the wonderful owner of the restaurant kindly invited Gregory my BF and I for dinner a few weeks ago and I have been itching to blog about it ever since.

The Mas Provencal is not only a gastronomic experience, it is a feast for all the senses. Starting with sight, the most immediately impressive thing visually about the restaurant is not the exterior of the building which looks quite ordinary, is not the view (of which Eze has an abundance but the Mas Provencal has none), but is the interior of the restaurant. The Mas Provencal is covered from wall to wall with floral compositions, plants and vegetables, waterfalls, colourful vintage furniture and intriguing looking home-made contraptions some decorative some functional used for serving food. Moving onto hearing; the hat-clad silver fox keyboard / clarinet player was entertaining in an extremely old school, utterly wonderful way. Now for taste; the cuisine is not refined or gastronomic but it is simply amazing. Staring with a basket of raw vegetables that you can cut yourself or bite off in chunks rustic style and dip in the most delicious Tapenade and Anchoiade, moving on to the tasty bits of marinated small fish and squid with heaps of delicious herbs and seasonings, Charcuterie meats and freshly baked bread… that’s just the appetizer! Next up comes a choice of several dishes for an entrée from which I was prior advised to go for the risotto which is cooked then served in a giant parmesan wheel so when it’s scooped out and served in front of you onto your plate is gooey, creamy, cheesy and oh so tasty – I definitely had seconds. For the Plat Principal a choice of a selection of meats and fish from which I chose the veal fillet and Gregory the beef Entrecote which were both served with amazing mash potato and tasty mixed vegetables. And as if we had any room left, dessert was followed by Petit Fours served from spoons and flowers hanging from a tree and nice strong Italian espresso coffee. The Mas Provencal was all we could talk about on the drive home and I haven’t stopped recommending it since and I am already looking forward to my next gastronomic adventure at the Mas Provencal. Thank you Mr Heinz!

Also known as the Château Dior or the Château de Montauroux, the Château de la Colle Noire is a stunning manor house and formerly the Provencal demure of celebrated fashion guru Christian Dior. Constructed in 1860 upon a site which dates back to the 14th century, today, the venue is owned by the Tassou family and is overseen by the head of the household Madame Jaqueline Tassou.

Located in Montauroux in the Var region of Provence at just 30 minutes drive inland from the French Riviera coast, the  Château de la Colle Noire is easily accessible at 40 minutes drive from Nice airport. The property is situated just off the A8 motorway exit amongst 5 hectares of gardens and parkland. The beautiful Lac de Saint Cassien is located within a short drive from the Chateau de la Colle Noire as is the famous Four Seasons Terre Blanche luxury golf resort.

Tucked away in the venue’s grounds, the Château de la Colle Noire has its very own chapel. Despite the fact that the chapel is rather on the small side, it can be used as a charming backdrop for ceremonies.

The venue’s outside spaces are particularly attractive; the lawn around the water feature with its central fountain can be used for ceremonies and cocktail receptions.

The venue’s main lawn can be used for seated dinners. For larger groups, it is advisable to consider constructing a marquee on the lawn in case of bad weather as the inside backup space in the main building known as the Grand Salon, can only seat a maximum of 70 people.

The livingroom known as the Grand Salon can be used for seated dinners for small groups. For larger groups, part of the group of guests can be seated in the Grand Salon and the remainder on the Grand Salon’s terrace which can be covered with a gazebo structure. Due to local sound regulations, any dance parties with loud music should take place in the Grand Salon. Dance parties can take place in a marquee but sound levels should be kept to a reasonable level.

The venue has a swimming pool, tennis court and parking for 200 cars.

The Château de la Colle Noire has a total of 14 ensuite bedrooms and suites and sleeps 30 to 35 people. The rooms are large, grand and extremely traditional.

The venue must be rented for a minimum of 2 nights over a weekend. Arrival and departure times are very flexible and depend on whether there are any bookings either side of a particular date. Loud music in the Grand Salon is permitted until 3am.

For more information, please contact Kerry by email or alternatively leave a comment below.

I first visited the Clos des Roses winery on a bright, sunny, May day over a lovely lunch with cold, crisp rosé. Used to frequently travelling to wedding venues on the French Riviera coast, usually to the East of Cannes where I am based, it is always a pleasure to leave the traffic lights and busy roads behind and head to the Var region of Provence. Located just off the A8 ‘autoroute’ at only half an hours drive from downtown Cannes, the Clos des Roses is a super charming wine-producing estate and the closest Cotes de Provence vineyard to the Cote d’Azur at only 40 minutes by car from Nice airport.

With a 7 bedroom luxury guest house, swimming pool, an excellent gastronomic restaurant managed by a top French chef, a superb function room, a beautiful chapel, rose gardens, vines and contemporary art sculptures, the Clos des Roses certainly ticks all the right boxes.

The Bastide du Clos, the Clos des Roses’ boutique hotel / luxury guest house, offers 3 different categories of tastefully decorated, spacious (from 25 to 35 metres squared) bedrooms. Room rates range from 150 Euros to 275 Euros per night including breakfast.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the Bastide du Clos’ gastronomic restaurant or on the delightful poolside terrace.

For wedding receptions, the Clos des Roses’ function room can be rented for groups of up to 200 people seated. This modern, luminous space is fully equiped with a 3 by 4 metre stage, sound & light equipment and all necessary chairs and tables. The 2011 rental fee for the exclusive use of the Clos des Roses is 4700 Euros TTC (inc. VAT) including cleaning and a house manager on duty for the duration of your event. Outside caterers can be brought in but the venue’s own chef can provide high quality catering at reasonable prices for events of any size. The venue obliges that clients consume the rosé variety of wine produced on site which is priced at an amazingly cheap 8.50 Euros TTC (inc. VAT) per bottle.

The Clos des Roses’ chapel located amongst the vines can be used for wedding ceremonies of any faith.

Events can be accompanied by a wine tasting session in the private ‘degustation’ room and a guided tour of the wine cellar and distillery.

If you would like to receive more information about weddings at the Clos des Roses, you can email Kerry at My Riviera Wedding or leave a comment below. If you prefer to contact the venue directly, please don’t forget to mention that you found out about the Clos des Roses on! Situated in Vence, near the charming medieval village of Saint Paul de Vence, the Château Saint Martin & Spa is part of the Oetker Collection, the same hotel group as the magnificent Hotel du-Cap-Eden-Roc, and abides by the same principles of understated luxury and excellence in service. The hotel is also a member of the highly respected Relais & Chateaux international hotel guide.

While I was working at event management company JG Events, I was involved with the organisation of a winter wedding at the Château Saint Martin & Spa back in December 2008 for a lovely young Russian couple who hired the hotel for exclusive use over a long weekend. The venue was absolutely perfect for a festive season wedding with its cosy log fires and warm comfortable furnishings.

The Chateau Saint Martin by David Brenot

The Chateau Saint Martin is in fact equally as fabulous at any time of the year, offering traditional Provencal architecture, amazing views over the French Riviera coast, luscious gardens for wedding ceremonies, superb terraces for outside dining as well as versatile indoor function spaces. The Château Saint Martin & Spa even has its very own chapel , an idyllic place for an intimate wedding blessing .

Offering a total of 51 rooms, the Chateau Saint Martin has 39 junior suites and 6 private villas located in the hotel’s grounds .

If great food and wine is high on your list of priorities, then you will definitely not be disappointed with the Château Saint Martin. Run by head chef  Yannick Franque, protégé of the celebrated chef Alain Ducasse, the Château Saint Martin’s gastronomic restaurant has been awarded 2 Michelin Stars.  The hotel’s head Sommelier Jean-Christophe Rault always picks out the perfect wines for each menu and offers wine tasting in the hotel’s attractive Cave à Vine.

The Château Saint Martin is also a fantastic wedding venue for couples who would like to experience the ultimate in relaxation and wellbeing in calm surroundings. The hotel’s La Prairie Spa offers revolutionary health and beauty treatments in a truly luxurious setting. The Chateau Saint Martin’s heated outdoor swimming pool is set amongst olive groves and beautiful Provencal gardens.

The Château Saint Martin & Spa and its 51 rooms and suites can only be hired for exclusive use for weddings at certain times of the year; from the beginning of February to the end of May and again from the end of September to mid November. This is because the hotel’s regular individual clientele is privileged during the high season months of June to August and the venue closes annually from November/December to January/February. Rates are charged on a per day basis, with a minimum stay policy of 2 nights. If you do not wish to hire the entire hotel for your wedding, it is possible to organise a dinner either in the Rôtisserie; a large dining room with a capacity of 110 people seated or the Salle Matisse; a private salon with its own terrace perfect for small groups of up to 45 people seated. Hiring the venue for exclusive use is the only solution if you would like to have a dance party after dinner with either a DJ or live music, so not as to disturb the other guests staying in the hotel.

If you would like to receive more information and rates for wedding at the Château Saint Martin & Spa, you can email Kerry at My Riviera Wedding or leave a comment below. If you prefer to contact the venue directly, you can get in touch with Sales Manager Lucy Hervé on my behalf by email on or by telephone on +33 (0) 4 93 58 40 75. Please don’t forget to mention that you found the venue on! By doing this you will be helping me to spread the word about my wedding planning activities.

The Château de la Chèvre d’Or is in my opinion one of the finest venues for intimate, romantic weddings on the French Riviera. This wonderful hotel located in the Medieval hilltop fortress town of Eze, with its 2 Michelin star gourmet restaurant, has brilliant cuisine, breathtaking sea views, bags of charm and character, great service (member of the Relais et Châteaux group and has a 4 star rating), is private and discrete and not extraordinarily overpriced. In short, its positioning in the CondéNast Traveller 2010 Gold List of hotels is most definitely deserved. If you are planning a small wedding for between 15 and 65 people and are looking for a unique venue from which you can enjoy the Cote d’Azur coast line,  then the Château de la Chèvre d’Or could well be the perfect wedding venue for you.

The Château de la Chèvre d’Or has magnificent gardens in which, weather depending, wedding ceremonies can take place. Alternatively, one of the venue’s terraces known as the Café du Jardin can also be used (from 6.30pm only). For ceremonies in the gardens, a maximum of 65 can be seated and for ceremonies on the Café du Jardin terrace the maximum seated capacity is 30. The exclusive use fee for wedding ceremonies at the Château de la Chèvre d’Or varies according to the number of guests, ranging from 500 Euros for groups of up to 10 people and 1,700 Euros for up to 100 people (according to 2010 rates).

For drinks receptions and dinners, the venue offers full privatisation of the Eden Restaurant and the Eden Terrace which can hold a maximum of 65 people seated. The exclusive use fee for the Eden restaurant & terrace equates to: 65 minus the actual number of guests, times 300 Euros. Therefore, for groups of 65, no exclusive use fee applies and for groups of 30 for example, the exclusive use fee would be (65-30) x 300= 10,500 Euros (according to 2010 rates). On the menu are a large range of delicious French & European dishes combined with high-end Asian fusion cooking. Menus can be created according to your requirements and open bar and drinks packages are available.

If you would like to have live music or a dance party after dinner, this takes place in the lounge area of the Eden Terrace for 50 people maximum under the conditions that the 6 rooms located directly under the Eden restaurant & terrace are booked by the wedding party (3 nights minimum booking required if the event is on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday,  2 nights minimum for weddings on week days).

The Château de la Chèvre d’Or has a total of 30 rooms and 6 suites, all tastefully decorated, ranging from 290 Euros per night for a standard room (according to 2010 high season rates).

For more information about weddings at the Château de la Chèvre d’Or, please do not hesitate to contact Kerry at My Riviera Wedding by email or leave a comment below. If you prefer to contact the Château de la Chèvre d’Or directly, please don’t forget to mention that you found the venue on! By doing this you will be helping me to spread the word about my wedding planning activities.
