As the saying goes, “no news is good news”; and it’s certainly the case for this blogging wedding planner. It’s been a good few months since I have posted anything on My Riviera Wedding and now have so much news I don’t know where to start! Since creating My Riviera Wedding in October 2009, I have gone from an enthusiastic wedding blogger to a full-blown wedding planner. All this is thanks to the people who have trusted me, supported me and helped me. From 3 weddings in summer 2010, I am working on 13 weddings this 2011 summer season. With 3 out of 13 done and dusted, it’s time to take stock and feel thankful for the opportunities that have come my way.

Sitting on the sofa drinking coffee after a well deserved lie in following a fantastic 3-day wedding weekend for the lovely Miki & Tom, I am tired but happy and looking forward to weddings 4 to 13. I will shortly have many fabulous Real Wedding photos and videos to share with you, so more to come from me soon.

Browsing wedding blogs has developed into somewhat of a hobby for me. Some, including my Petit Ami, would describe such behaviour as:

Also known as the Château Dior or the Château de Montauroux, the Château de la Colle Noire is a stunning manor house and formerly the Provencal demure of celebrated fashion guru Christian Dior. Constructed in 1860 upon a site which dates back to the 14th century, today, the venue is owned by the Tassou family and is overseen by the head of the household Madame Jaqueline Tassou.

Located in Montauroux in the Var region of Provence at just 30 minutes drive inland from the French Riviera coast, the  Château de la Colle Noire is easily accessible at 40 minutes drive from Nice airport. The property is situated just off the A8 motorway exit amongst 5 hectares of gardens and parkland. The beautiful Lac de Saint Cassien is located within a short drive from the Chateau de la Colle Noire as is the famous Four Seasons Terre Blanche luxury golf resort.

Tucked away in the venue’s grounds, the Château de la Colle Noire has its very own chapel. Despite the fact that the chapel is rather on the small side, it can be used as a charming backdrop for ceremonies.

The venue’s outside spaces are particularly attractive; the lawn around the water feature with its central fountain can be used for ceremonies and cocktail receptions.

The venue’s main lawn can be used for seated dinners. For larger groups, it is advisable to consider constructing a marquee on the lawn in case of bad weather as the inside backup space in the main building known as the Grand Salon, can only seat a maximum of 70 people.

The livingroom known as the Grand Salon can be used for seated dinners for small groups. For larger groups, part of the group of guests can be seated in the Grand Salon and the remainder on the Grand Salon’s terrace which can be covered with a gazebo structure. Due to local sound regulations, any dance parties with loud music should take place in the Grand Salon. Dance parties can take place in a marquee but sound levels should be kept to a reasonable level.

The venue has a swimming pool, tennis court and parking for 200 cars.

The Château de la Colle Noire has a total of 14 ensuite bedrooms and suites and sleeps 30 to 35 people. The rooms are large, grand and extremely traditional.

The venue must be rented for a minimum of 2 nights over a weekend. Arrival and departure times are very flexible and depend on whether there are any bookings either side of a particular date. Loud music in the Grand Salon is permitted until 3am.

The Château de Robernier is one of the most exceptional and unique wedding venues in the South of France. The venue combines a fairytale type castle with a rustic Provencal vineyard setting and offers the ultimate in privacy and exclusivity. The property is a private home owned by a lovely European couple who bought the Chateau as a ruin and meticulously restored and renovated the property with the highest quality furnishings and fittings.

Location
Situated at 2km from the village of Montfort sur Argens, the Château de Robernier is located at approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from both Nice and Marseille airports. The Chateau is surrounded by hundreds of hectares of land and is located at the heart of the Var region of Provence with its vineyards, utterly charming French villages and luscious landscapes.

Spaces & Facilities
The Chateau de Robernier offers several different spaces both inside and out which can be used for weddings including:

  • Lawns in front of the Chateau which can be used for outdoor ceremonies
  • An exterior courtyard in front of the property’s grand main entrance ideal for ceremonies and cocktails
  • The ‘Orangerie; a 140 metre squared flat patio area just in front and to the left of the property for ceremonies, cocktails or dinners
  • A beautiful ballroom often used for dancing, which can also accommodate 120 people for a seated dinner
  • A large 350 metre squared inner courtyard able to seat up to 200 people comfortably or 160-180 people leaving room for a dance floor in the centre
  • A small chapel which opens out onto the inner courtyard
  • A stunning 140 metre squared main hall for an impressive welcome
  • A 60 metre squared dining room for intimate dinners
  • An area round the swimming pool which can be used for an informal brunch
  • Ample car parking behind the main building

Accommodation
The property has 15 luxurious bedrooms and huge marble bathrooms located in the castle turrets and can sleep 30-34 people. There are many charming hotels and B&Bs in the local area to accommodate additional guests. Saint Tropez is also located within a reasonable driving distance from the property (45 minutes) for those guests who prefer to stay in a seaside location.

Conditions
The Château de Robernier can be rented on a per day/night bases under the condition that the property is rented for a minimum of 2 nights over weekends in June, July, August and September. There is no minimum stay however during the week. For guests who would like to make a holiday out of their wedding, the property can also be rented on a weekly basis. The venue offers the possibility to have a dinner the night before the wedding and/or a brunch the day after the wedding (for an additional fee if more than 40 people attend). Thanks to the fact that there are no adjacent properties and no neighbours, there are no limitations to music and sound.

As it has been quite a while since my last post, I didn’t want my readers to think that I have completely fallen off the radar so this is just a little message to say that I am still here! Over the past few months I have had an amazing response to my blog and many wonderful people have been in touch to enquire about my wedding planning services. With 3 weddings coming up over the next few weeks on the French Riviera and in Provence, I am in full wedding mode and am so excited about being part of 3 lovely brides and grooms’ special days. I am also working on another website which will be my ‘official’ wedding planner website but will definitely continue adding to the content of My Riviera Wedding. Lizzy Parks

Acclaimed British Jazz/Soul singer song-writer Lizzy Parks is the perfect accompaniment for any event. An exciting and innovate performer, Lizzy adds atmosphere and class to any occasion. Signed to UK-based independent record label Tru Thoughts with whom she has released several albums, Lizzy moved from London to Cannes on the French Riviera in 2009.  As well as performing her own material at gigs and festivals around Europe, Lizzy has a large repertoire of jazz and soul tracks which she sings at weddings and events accompanied by her fantastic band (available in different formations from duo to quintet). Offering arrangements of well-known standards, Lizzy and her musicians can execute a vast repertoire of music from vocal piano jazz to up tempo swing. In addition to her Jazz Band set up which is absolutely ideal for wedding cocktail receptions, Lizzy can also perform modern songs (with some of her own material if desired) in her own unique style with her guitarist Tom. Clos des Roses

I first visited the Clos des Roses winery on a bright, sunny, May day over a lovely lunch with cold, crisp rosé. Used to frequently travelling to wedding venues on the French Riviera coast, usually to the East of Cannes where I am based, it is always a pleasure to leave the traffic lights and busy roads behind and head to the Var region of Provence. Located just off the A8 ‘autoroute’ at only half an hours drive from downtown Cannes, the Clos des Roses is a super charming wine-producing estate and the closest Cotes de Provence vineyard to the Cote d’Azur at only 40 minutes by car from Nice airport.

With a 7 bedroom luxury guest house, swimming pool, an excellent gastronomic restaurant managed by a top French chef, a superb function room, a beautiful chapel, rose gardens, vines and contemporary art sculptures, the Clos des Roses certainly ticks all the right boxes.

The Bastide du Clos, the Clos des Roses’ boutique hotel / luxury guest house, offers 3 different categories of tastefully decorated, spacious (from 25 to 35 metres squared) bedrooms. Room rates range from 150 Euros to 275 Euros per night including breakfast.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the Bastide du Clos’ gastronomic restaurant or on the delightful poolside terrace.

For wedding receptions, the Clos des Roses’ function room can be rented for groups of up to 200 people seated. This modern, luminous space is fully equiped with a 3 by 4 metre stage, sound & light equipment and all necessary chairs and tables. The 2011 rental fee for the exclusive use of the Clos des Roses is 4700 Euros TTC (inc. VAT) including cleaning and a house manager on duty for the duration of your event. Outside caterers can be brought in but the venue’s own chef can provide high quality catering at reasonable prices for events of any size. The venue obliges that clients consume the rosé variety of wine produced on site which is priced at an amazingly cheap 8.50 Euros TTC (inc. VAT) per bottle.


The Clos des Roses’ chapel located amongst the vines can be used for wedding ceremonies of any faith.

Events can be accompanied by a wine tasting session in the private ‘degustation’ room and a guided tour of the wine cellar and distillery.
