The Commanderie de Peyrassol is a wine producing estate in the Var region of Provence in the South of France located at just over 1 hours drive from Nice airport. The domain dates back to the 13th century when its vineyards were first used for the production of wine. Today, 800 years later, the estate still produces wine of an excellent quality using age-old artisanal techniques. The Commanderie de Peyrassol is also home to a huge collection of modern sculptures with its gardens full of fascinating works by celebrated contemporary artists. More importantly however, the Commanderie de Peyrassol with its fabulous function spaces is perfectly geared up for weddings.

I have not yet been to visit the Commanderie de Peyrassol but intend to do so very soon. I will of course update this post with more details following my visit. I can already tell you however that the private hire fee is fantastically reasonable at between 2,600 euros and 6,800 euros depending on the season and the day. For this price you have total exclusive use of the entire estate until 5am, tables and chairs for up to 180 people, full post event cleaning and a house manager on site for the duration of your wedding reception. In the meantime I will leave you with a few photos of this beautiful wedding venue in Provence.

If you would like My Riviera Wedding to contact the Commanderie de Peyrassol on your behalf for a personalised quote, you can send Kerry an email on kerry@my-riviera-wedding.com or leave your comment below. If you prefer to contact the Commanderie de Peyrassol directly, please don’t forget to mention that you found the venue on www.my-riviera-wedding.com! By doing this you will be helping me to spread the word about my wedding planning activities.

Located in the countryside of the Var region in Les Arcs sur Argens at just under an hours drive from Nice Airport, The Château Font du Broc is a jewel of a wedding venue . The Château Font du Broc is a wine-producing estate and a stud farm for pedigree race horses with a beautiful inside/outside cloisters for ceremonies, 3 superb indoor function spaces and impeccably kept French-style gardens. The venue is not very well-known amongst couples coming from abroad to get married in the South of France as it is not yet marketed to an Anglophone market. Because the venue is in the middle of the countryside on a private estate, sound restrictions do not apply which means you can party until the early hours of the morning. The venue is located within a 10 to 15 minute drive from a 50 bedroom golf hotel which offers very reasonable group rates and good quality accommodation. There are also lots of small hotels and gites in the surrounding area. The nearest village; Les Arcs sur Argens is a medieval hill-top village with a few cafés and brassieres and a good boutique hotel with excellent restaurant. The area in which the Font du Broc is located is real Provence vineyard country without being too rural or secluded; all the necessary amenities like big super markets and shopping malls are all just a drive away. In short, the Château Font du Broc offers high-end, relaxed country chic in natural, tranquil surroundings.

‘Le Cloître with its exposed wooden beams, white pillars, chandeliers and Provencal terracotta floor, is the perfect space for ceremonies. With one side of the Cloitre being completely open, the space does not feel closed or stuffy. The Cloitre offers a sort of churchy feel in an outdoor setting.

The ‘Salle Provence’ is a 150 metre squared reception room. With its terracotta tiles, golden-yellow, red and olive-green colour scheme, its name reflects perfectly the décor. The Salle Provence is commonly used as a back-up for pre-dinner drinks in case of rain, as a chill out area for people to get away from the music and dancing which usually takes place in the Salle du Chateau or alternatively as a crèche area for children. This space has a small kitchen and WCs on hand and is located right next to the Cloitre. It is for this reason that the Salle Provence is often used for the Bride to have any touch-ups before she walks down the aisle in the Cloitre.

The French gardens are beautifully green whatever the time of year and offer a perfect space for pre-dinner drinks and canapé receptions.

The ‘Salle du Château’ is a large, luminous, grand 356 metre squared function room. The space is south-facing and opens out onto the French gardens. Taking its inspiration from 18th century nobel French architecture, the décor is classic, and  traditionally chic. There is a wooden dance floor in the centre of the room so there is no need to hire one in.

Last but by no means least, the ‘Salle Equestre’ or otherwise referred to as the ‘Manège’ is a large high ceiling space usually used for horse riding &  dressage training. This 640 metre squared majestic hall 600 people seated can be used for the largest of weddings.

The venue does not offer catering but is happy to work with the caterer of your choice. The venue obliges clients to drink the Font du Broc wine which is no bad thing at all as all three colours are really lovely – even the red which is unusual for a Cotes de Provence. What is more, the venue offers preferential rates for their wine. The Chateau Font du Broc’s wine cellar is just beautiful, couples are allowed to have portraits taken down there, this is something not to be missed.

If you are a wine lover, are looking for a chic, traditional venue with a rustic edge, want a real taste of Provence within a convenient drive time from a major airport and the coast, and think your guests won’t mind hiring a car if they want to get out and about and make the most of the local area, then this venue is definitely for you. I have organised one wedding at the Font du Broc and will be organising another one there in September 2012.
